The art and lettering style is an imitation of traditional Polynesian textile (cloth) decoration called "Kapa" in Hawaiian and "Tapa" in the other Polynesian languages.

"Aloha" is the Hawaiian word for Hello, Love, and Goodbye... not necessarily in that order.
