This tessellation shows translational (slide) symmetry.

The "tile" (tile = repeating shape) is very neatly, precisely reproduced and fits with all the other tiles perfectly, without gaps or overlaps. That's what a proper tessellation does.

If I offer any constructive criticism, it's this: I wish the shoulders didn't end so vaguely. A good tessellation's tiles-- shapes, that is-- should look complete. I'm afraid that if someone looks at these heads, they will think: "These shapes are not complete. Where are the bodies? Was there an accident at the bakery? OMG, I'll never eat donuts again!"
